As we move into November most of the world has gathered in Glasgow, Scotland to focus on measures and commitments to save the world from climate change. Egged on by the British Royal Family and British Prime Minister, Boris Johnson, many countries are trying to show the world that they are doing their bit and hoping many others will follow.
The commitments are all a bit hollow if the world can’t get China on board, given that it represents more than a fifth of the people on the planet but President Xi Jinping stayed home and the US President, Joe Biden, said that was a big mistake.
The press in China, predictably see it differently, they would have us believe the developed world is being a bit rich and essentially using the issue of climate change to keep the developing countries from catching up … at the end of the day they want money and lots of it.
Certainly, the issue is view from a different lens in Asia but freshly minted, Japanese Prime Minister, Kishida is trying to show he is a responsible international citizen and offering to stump up some of the necessary cash.
